Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the MAP Head of CMO and Industrial Partnership, the Contract Manufacturing & Sourcing Manager serves as the lead for contract manufacturing within the assigned territory. The role is responsible for driving the development of new supply partners (CMOs) and ensuring the effective execution of Motul’s CMO strategies.

The Contract Manufacturing & Sourcing Manager, SEA will design, manage, and implement processes to ensure smooth production localization across assigned countries.

 

Scope: Responsible for all product categories in Southeast Asia, with a primary focus on Thailand and Indonesia, with potential future expansion into other countries.

In addition, this role will conduct sourcing activities to optimize raw material costs and supply for CMOs in the assigned markets, in coordination with the MAP Sourcing and Regulatory Senior Manager.

 

KEY DELIVERABLES:

  • Successful execution of CMO strategies within the defined territory
  • Monthly performance monitoring of CMOs
  • Action plans based on quarterly product profitability analyses
  • Delivery against agreed progress roadmaps
  • Other projects or responsibilities as assigned by the Head CMO

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY

 

Contract Manufacturing (CMO Management)

  • Collaborate with the Head of CMO and cross-functional teams to drive CMO strategy in assigned markets.
  • Lead the search, qualification, cost assessment, and development of new CMOs to support strategic sourcing needs of Motul Asia Pacific (MAP).
  • Oversee contract manufacturing projects in designated countries, including contract design and drafting, production (quantity, quality, ramp-up), service level agreements, costing, NPI, productivity, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Monitor and ensure ongoing contract compliance, product quality, and cost optimization.
  • Prepare cost breakdown analyses by CMO and conduct half-yearly product margin reviews with clear action plans.
  • Lead monthly business reviews with CMOs under responsibility.
  • Implement sustainability (e.g., Ecovadis) and ethics practices across managed CMOs.
  • Ensure successful execution of CMO strategies to achieve cost efficiency, innovation, and long-term value creation

 

Sourcing & Procurement

  • Partner with MAP Sourcing, Marketing, R&D, and local procurement teams to secure competitive raw materials that meet quality and cost objectives.
  • Identify alternate suppliers and dual-sourcing options for critical materials.
  • Conduct pre-screening of suppliers (capability, capacity, certifications, ESG, financial health) and coordinate technical audits with QHSE.
  • Manage pilot builds, sample validation, and transparent RFQ processes.
  • Perform Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis to support sourcing decisions.

 

Reporting and analysis

  • Manage and consolidate CMO data for reporting to the Head of CMO and CMO Committee.
  • Support the BOT process for MAP operations to enable sustainable business growth.
  • Collaborate with Finance and relevant stakeholders to deliver quarterly product profitability analysis for all MAP CMOs, with actionable recommendations

 

Other

  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head of CMO or management.

Educational Qualifications/Certifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in manufacturing, managing contract manufacturing operations, sourcing, procurement, ideally in industrial of liquid (paints, drinks, lubricant, cosmetics, chemical etc.)
  • Lean or Six Sigma trained, PMP Certification is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects and manage external partners.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in margin analysis, costing, and productivity improvement.
  • Knowledge of sustainability frameworks (e.g., Ecovadis) and ethics compliance is a plus.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly analytical but able to manage multiple stakeholders in driving change effectively.
  • The proven ability to work in an ambiguous, fast-paced and disruptive environment.
  • Must be solution orientated, with the ability to identify risks, opportunities and drive performance to achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrates a real passion for process improvements with an approach that urges innovation, elimination of waste and efficiency improvements.
  • Skilled in process mapping, and the analysis of as-is and to-be processes.
  • Experience in leading complex projects to major achievements.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
